About AGI

Advanced Giga Inc. designs, fabricates, and deploys modular data center infrastructure for hyperscale operators. Our flagship products, the MDH (Modular Data Hall), MTCS (Modular Technology Cooling System), and MES (Modular Energy Server), are factory-built, tested, and commissioned before they ever leave our facility. We are not a general contractor. We are an engineering-led manufacturer that owns the full lifecycle: design, fabrication, controls integration, factory acceptance testing, delivery, and on-site commissioning.

We are a small, high-impact team where your decisions directly shape outcomes on programs worth tens of millions of dollars. If you have spent your career inside large organizations and are looking for a place where your experience actually gets used, not diluted across layers of bureaucracy, this is it.

The Role

AGI is hiring a Controls Start-Up and Commissioning Engineer to prove out the control systems on every module we ship: MDH, MTCS, and MES. Our controls team writes the code; you make it real on the shop floor and at the site. You will own I/O checkout, instrument loop checks, and functional testing of sequences of operation through FAT and commissioning, working shoulder to shoulder with the commissioning superintendent and the mechanical and electrical startup engineers.

This is a hands-on field engineering seat. The right person is as comfortable with a loop sheet and a process calibrator as with a trend log, and treats a clean red-line and a complete checklist as the product.

What You Will Actually Do

  • Execute I/O checkout and point-to-point verification for module control panels: every input, every output, verified and documented
  • Run instrument loop checks end to end: transmitter to PLC to HMI, with calibration verification against the instrument index
  • Execute functional testing of sequences of operation with the PLC engineer: permissives, interlocks, alarms, failure modes, and redundancy scenarios
  • Support integrated system testing during FAT and SAT, capturing trend data and validating control response against the control narrative
  • Commission network and communications layers: PLC-to-HMI, Modbus/BACnet integrations with equipment packages, and BMS interface points
  • Tune loops and adjust setpoints during startup with engineering approval, and document every change back into the master configuration
  • Manage controls punch items to closure in the commissioning platform and assemble the controls sections of turnover packages
  • Support client witness testing: demonstrate sequences, answer questions, capture comments, and retest
  • Feed field lessons back to the controls team so the next module set tests faster and cleaner

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of controls startup, commissioning, or field service on industrial or mission-critical systems
  • Hands-on I/O checkout and loop check experience at scale (hundreds of points per system)
  • Working fluency with Siemens Tia Portal, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell platforms (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk) or equivalent
  • Able to read P&IDs, control narratives, loop sheets, panel drawings, and instrument indexes
  • Instrumentation fundamentals: transmitters, control valves, VFD interfaces, and calibration practice
  • Disciplined documentation habits: checklists, test records, and red-lines that someone else can pick up
  • Comfortable working embedded with trade crews on a fabrication shop floor and on construction sites

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Data center controls or BMS commissioning experience (chilled water plants, CRAH/CDU controls)
  • HMI/SCADA experience (Ignition preferred)
  • Industrial networking depth: EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, BACnet/IP, and network troubleshooting
  • SIS or functional-safety exposure
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • CxA/CCP or ISA certification

What We Offer

  • Performance bonus tied to program delivery milestones
  • Direct impact on a high-growth company at the intersection of manufacturing and critical infrastructure
  • Ownership of your domain: you set the processes, you build the relationships, you drive the outcomes
  • A technical leadership team that speaks your language (engineering-led company, not sales-led)
